I decided to try another “fantasy poem” after I wrote My Deliverance (which is my best one so far) and came up with this. This poem takes place in a fantasy/dystopian world where the leader of the rebels is giving a speech to encourage his people not to give up.

“Alright folks, listen up
The enemy is two minutes out
I know this feels like the ending
But the fight has just begun
Yes we may be outnumbered
We’re outsmarted and outplanned

Yes, our enemy has burned our buildings
And yes, they have plagued our lands
They have broken our walls
And destroyed our homes
They’ve taken our loved ones
Cut us off from the rest of our allies
Yes, they’ve taken everything from us
Watched us slowly crush and crumble
But we will not fall!
Our enemies might have broken us
Might have shoved us to the ground
They have beaten us and took away the light
But they have not succeeded in taking away our fight!

Neither your sword nor your fist is your mightiest weapon
It is your spirit, it is your soul, it is your hope
For after everything, you still stand

And you will stand to fight again
Just one more fight, one last battle
Carry your hope and use it as a shield
Hold your spirits and use it as a sword

Use your pain to fuel fire in your veins
Use your struggles to make you resilient
Use your hardships to make you brave

Now stand up, tall and strong
You may be tired and not want to go on
You might not feel like you are enough
But we are heroes and we all belong

Rise heroes!
It is time for our fight
Do not give up for we are warriors
Do not fall down, we will not surrender

We have our spirits
We have each other
And we have hope

Now hold your head up high
Take a deep breath
Feel your heart pounding
Your legs pumping
Feel it in your chest
Feel in in the heart and the air
And know that no matter what
We will prevail.”
