Devil in White by Katy Magdalene

Author’s note: The poem is a result of a vicious cycle I had trapped myself in and the thoughts that I fed my self painfully and effortlessly. I eventually learnt to heal myself. I hope it resonates with you. A lot of word play and metaphors form the core of the poem leaving freedom of interpretation to the readers. Enjoy!

You call me the devil
whose sins you can’t repay
Only death by a rifle
could make me sane again
You are the reason I see
failure in circumstances I can’t avoid
You are the reason I can’t
feed the empty holes in my heart called pain voids
You are the reason breathing
is a breached medicated masterpiece
You are the reason living
is a tattered sacred form of peace
You are the reason dreams
are fabricated lies and a bunch of seems
You are the reason time
stands still in an overdose of pain
You are the reason my mind
incessantly bullied my body and soul
You are the reason my heart
can never get over it all
You are the reason trust
is like a broken bleeding mirror
You are the reason love
is a constant pained bleeding sinner
You are the reason faith
is a tormented crying child
You told me nothing
And I believed everything
Floating in a dark soulless abyss
Singing in a broken colorful taste
Slowly sinking in these oceans
Steadily watching me burn
to your unsolicited bruising words
