My poem for this week is a dark fantasy poem that I wrote in the form of a story.
It all started with a young girl who didn’t listen to her parents. One night, she headed deep into the Dark Forest only to find herself staring up at the creature everyone dreads. A creature so evil even the monsters fear them. A creature darker than darkness itself. Almost nothing is known about these Nightmares because anyone who has ever encountered one has never survived.

They said: beware and watch your back
You don’t know what stalks in the black
Huge creatures with piercing yellow eyes
That have antlers sharper than knives
At night, they prowl in the dark
They look for where the humans walk
You cannot run and you cannot hide
Humans they always find

They warned me: no noise goes unheard
No movement unwatched
They can smell you from miles away
And will snap you up in a crunch

They told me: they possess Dark Magic
That ravages villages and ruins lands
We call them the Nightmares
For they feed off terror and fear
Stay away from the Dark Forest at night

I did not listen and now I stare up at the creature
It stands tall with all its might
Its eyes staring straight at me, giving me a fright

It’s too late to turn back and run
For as soon as I saw the creature,
I knew I was done
The hunt has now begun…
